Hover the padding controls to highlight the current padding on the layer.

Adjust individually or simultaneously the 4 sides of the padding. When the lock icon is purple, all 4 sides are changed at the same time.

Adjusting padding will be useful, mostly for Text layers, as to make sure the text will remain contained in a specific area.
